I’ve had many a water bottle in my life, but this one… Oh this one.
Over the wicked hot summer of 2023, I tested this baby out. I filled it halfway to the top with ice and water, and went on my way. I filled it several times over the course of 24 hours and you know what? The ice I’d put in there in the beginning had barely melted! “Well you’re a winner!” I said to the bottle.
A few days later, I had it filled with ice water again, with my required amount of ice. I hadn’t “locked” it at the top and my ice melted a bit faster than usual.
Overall: This is a great water bottle and keeps things cold, and I’ve gone on to buy a couple of other Owala bottle sizes. You can sip through the straw inside or tip it like any other bottle. Just make sure you snap the lid lock (I call it the ice lock) if you don’t want the ice to melt.
I’m sure there are handles or slings that will help you carry it, but I’m pretty happy with what came.

This is my favorite water bottle of the year! What I like about it; the option of sipping or taking a gulp.
I’m very satisfied with the built-in straw, it is very easy to sip through the straw. And this is coming from someone who has had multiple bottles with built-in straws, this Owalla bottle is the best in 2023.
Another great option is the option of taking a drink from the open mouth. Once again, really clever design, I never feel like I’ll actually splash any water in my face or getting it up my nose when I’m taking a larger gulp of liquid.
Insulation is about average. It does the job of keeping my liquids chilled. We’ve had some incredibly hot weather here in California this year; so I’ve been putting more ice into my water. And this bottle will keep it chilled throughout the night.
There are cons, I don’t like the weight. It is heavier than other insulated water bottles I’ve had. Also the cap release needs a hard push to close. I think this is something Owala needs to work on in their version 2.0.
Overall I’m very happy with this bottle. It is now my daily driver replacing my Takeya. I like the design of the bottle so much, I bought the (lighter) sports version! They could improve the cap design, and hopefully they’ll do that with the next model.
